What is this twitter talk about? Well here is a quick intro for anyone who maybe interested in twitter but has know idea where to begin.
In a nut shell twitter is a free social tool to help you stay connected. You can stay on top of current events around the world as they happen and before they become main stream news. There are millions of people posting on twitter that you can participate in a conversation with or provide information about what is happening in you r part of the world. Twitter is truly %100 user driven.
Twitter is a micro-blog. Each time you post on twitter is is called a tweet. This means that each post should be a short summary of what you are doing, where you are going, or what is going on (not limited to these examples only of course). But as a general rule you should try to limit yourself to one or two short sentences.
Every time you tweet your post shows up on your followers twitter homepage. Some users have the updates sent to phone or monitored on computer with third part programs like tweetdeck. So if you want followers be sure to tweet about interesting items. An occasional ‘I am off to work’ or ‘Going to the store’ is OK, however if that is all you post you will lose followers.
People who find your tweets interesting can follow you. In the twitter world followers are everything. You want followers.
The Basics:
Search for interesting people and start to follow them. If you find someone is sending out to much noise and you can always drop them.
Use the @reply to help with the conversation. This will help the context of the conversation and put the proper prospective for other followers.
Hashtags can be your friend. Hashtags are a community-driven convention for adding additional context and to your tweets. For example if you are hashtag #masters is being used to follow tweets about the Masters Golf tournament. You can find more about hashtags on Hashtags.org.
There you have it. Oh and by the way, be sure to follow mattsshack
